Arthur
and
the
Revenge
of
Maltazard
(Dutch:
Arthur
en
de
Wraak
van
Malthazard)
was
released
in
the
Netherlands
in
2009.
The
film
was
directed
by
the
French
filmmaker
Luc
Besson,
who
also
created
the
Arthur
book
series
on
which
the
movies
are
based.
It
is
the
second
part
of
the
Arthur
and
the
Invisibles
trilogy,
following
Arthur
and
the
Minimoys
(2006).
The
story
continues
the
adventures
of
Arthur,
a
young
boy
who
can
shrink
to
enter
the
tiny
world
of
the
Minimoys,
a
race
of
miniature
beings
living
in
his
grandmother’s
garden.
In
this
chapter,
Arthur
receives
a
distress
call
from
his
friend
Princess
Selenia
and
returns
to
the
Minimoy
world—only
to
discover
it’s
a
trap
set
by
his
evil
enemy,
Malthazard.
The
film
mixes
live
action
and
CGI
animation
to
create
a
vivid
fantasy
universe.
In
the
Netherlands,
the
movie
was
dubbed
in
Dutch
and
attracted
many
families
familiar
with
the
first
film.
While
the
visuals
were
praised,
the
sequel
received
mixed
reviews
and
was
less
successful
than
its
predecessor.
However,
it
remained
popular
among
young
viewers
for
its
imaginative
world,
exciting
adventure,
and
emotional
connection
between
Arthur
and
his
tiny
friends.
