Flushed
Away
is
a
2006
animated
film
created
by
Aardman
Animations
and
DreamWorks
Animation.
It
marked
Aardman's
first
fully
computer-animated
film,
diverging
from
their
traditional
stop-motion
style
due
to
the
complexity
of
water
effects.
The
story
follows
Roddy,
a
pampered
pet
rat
from
a
London
flat,
who
gets
flushed
down
the
toilet
into
a
bustling
underground
sewer
city.
There,
he
teams
up
with
Rita,
a
street-smart
scavenger,
to
stop
the
evil
Toad’s
sinister
plan.
The
film
was
directed
by
David
Bowers
and
Sam
Fell
and
featured
voices
by
Hugh
Jackman,
Kate
Winslet,
and
Ian
McKellen.
Despite
positive
reviews
for
its
humor
and
charm,
Flushed
Away
underperformed
at
the
box
office.
This
led
to
the
end
of
the
partnership
between
Aardman
and
DreamWorks.
Over
time,
however,
the
film
has
gained
a
cult
following
for
its
witty
British
humor,
creative
setting,
and
unique
blend
of
Aardman's
charm
with
CG
animation.
