The
idea
for
Muppet
Babies
was
born
from
a
brief,
magical
scene
in
The
Muppets
Take
Manhattan
(1984),
in
which
Kermit
and
the
gang
imagined
themselves
as
babies
singing
“I’m
Gonna
Always
Love
You.”
Audiences
loved
it.
Seeing
the
potential,
Jim
Henson—the
visionary
behind
The
Muppets—teamed
up
with
Marvel
Productions
and
CBS
to
create
a
full-fledged
animated
series.
The
result?
A
vibrant,
zany
cartoon
that
launched
in
September
1984,
and
by
1988,
Muppet
Babies
was
in
its
fifth
season,
a
fixture
of
CBS's
Saturday
morning
lineup.
It
had
already
won
Emmy
Awards
for
Outstanding
Animated
Program,
praised
for
promoting
creativity,
kindness,
and
problem-solving.
